D.C. United to Take Part in Friendly Tonight

D.C. United will go up against La Liga side Real Betis for a mid-season friendly. This game will mark the first international friendly game in Audi Field’s young two-year history. This also marks the first ever meeting between the two clubs as well as Real Betis’ first time playing a friendly in the US.

After D.C. United tore through the competition in the beginning of the season, they’re just 2-2-1 in their last five games. Wayne Rooney has paced the attack and leads the team with seven goals and four assists in 13 games.

Despite the small slump, D.C. United is tied with the Philadelphia Union for first place in the Eastern Conference. This game won’t count in the MLS standings but it is still a big test regardless for the Black and Red.

Like D.C. United, Real Betis is also 2-2-1 in their last five games. They just wrapped up La Liga season with a 14-8-16 record. Real Betis defeated Real Madrid in the final match of the season 2-0.

Kickoff is at 8 p.m. on FloFC.
