D.C. United Recap: 7/13/20 DCU 2 Toronto FC 2

A draw from the jaws of defeat was what D.C. United forced to get their season resumption back on the right foot against a talented Toronto FC team. The Black and Red were down 2-0 but scored two unanswered goals to force a draw.

Toronto FC opened up the scoring in the 12th minute after Ayo Akinola fired a shot into the side of the net. Akinola added his second goal of the game just before halftime to double the lead. 2-0 was the score at the half.

D.C. United finally got on the board in the 84th minute with a chip in goal from Federico Higuain. It gave the Black and Red life and they kept applying the pressure in the final minutes.

In the 90th minute Steven Birnbaum headed the ball across the goal to find Frederic Brillant to tie the game and give D.C. United at least a point in the MLS is Back Tournament.

D.C. United will take on the New England Revolution in the next group stage match of the tournament on July 17 at 8 p.m.
