D.C. United hosts Montreal Impact

After getting shut out 4-0 by LAFC on their home pitch on Saturday afternoon, D.C. United seeks redemption three days later. On Tuesday night, the Montreal Impact come to town. Ironically, the last time they were in D.C. it was the Black and Red who pitched the shut out in a 5-0 victory.

The Impact are 2-2-1, recently coming off a scoreless draw over the weekend at Yankee Stadium against NYCFC. They have not generated much offense. Ignacio Piatti and Saphir Taider each lead Montreal with three goals, while Orji Okwonkwo has the only other goal scored by the team this season.

Not only is D.C. United coming off a blank sheet, but they will also be without their star, Wayne Rooney. Rooney received a red card in the 53rd minute in Saturday’s match against LAFC for a tackle he made on Diego Rossi. Rossi finished that game with a hat trick in that 4-0 route.

The Black and Red adjust to life without Rooney for the first time since July 4, 2018, which was six days after the club signed him. It is likely Coach Ben Olsen will go with either Quincy Amarikwa or Ulises Segura to replace Rooney.

Kickoff is at 8 p.m. and you can stream the game on FloFC.
