D.C. United Gets Shut Out by LAFC in First Loss of Season

D.C. United fell to LAFC 4-0 at Audi Field in a game that featured two unbeaten clubs with just one draw entering the pitch. Both teams also entered the game in first place in their respective Eastern and Western Conferences. D.C. United’s record drops to 3-1-1 and to second place in the East.

LAFC opened up the scoring in the 15th minute from a goal from Carlos Vela. Following that, Diego Rossi put on a clinic with a hat trick. His goals came in the 27th and 32nd minute to close out the first half to a 3-0 advantage for the visitors. Rossi’s third came in the 76th minute.

Not only did D.C. United suffer a loss but Wayne Rooney was given a red card in the 52nd minute. The incident came on a lunging tackle on Rossi. Rooney initially received a yellow but it was changed to red after a review.

The Black and Red look to bounce back with a quick turnaround. Three nights later on Tuesday April 9, D.C. United will host the Montreal Impact at Audi Field.
