Capitals Vs. LA Kings Recap: February 18, 2019

The Washington Capitals beat the LA Kings by a score of 3-2 Monday. Statically, Phoenix Copley would go on to make 26 saves, but it would not be simply enough as the Kings scored in the first period.

The Capitals stand at 33-20-7 and are currently in second place in the Metropolitan division. On the other hand, the Kings are currently in 8th place in the Pacific division.

During the first period Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin, scored his 41st goal of the season. Ovechkin’s goal was scored at 11 minutes and 48 seconds. Futhermore, Capitals forward Brett Connolly scored his 14th goal of the season. Brett Connolly’s goal was assisted by Andre Burakovsky (10th assist of the season) and Dimitri Orlov (14th assist of the season) and the goal was scored at 12 minutes and 8 seconds. In addition, in the second period Alex Ovechkin scored his second goal of the game. Also, Ovechkin’s goal was assisted by John Carlson (45th assist of the season) and Nickolas Backstrom (43rd assist of the season).  The goal was scored at 5 minutes and 27 seconds. Moreover, in the third period Kings Alex Iafollo scored his 13th goal of the season at 8 minutes and 20 seconds. Additionally,  Kings Illya Kovalchuck, scored his 13th goal of the season. Kovalchuck’s goal was assisted by captain Anze Kopitar (27th assist of the season) and assistant captain Drew Doughty (28th assist of the season). Kopitar’s goal was scored at 19 minutes and 32 seconds.

With winning, the Capitals will head to Toronto to face the Maple Leafs on Thursday at Scotiabank Arena.
