Capitals sign blue liner Alex Alexeyev to a two year contract worth a total of 1.65 million.

The Washington Capitals have re-signed defenseman Alex Alexeyev to a two year contract. This keeps him with the Capitals for a little while and helps solidify the defense pairings. This means John Carlson, Nick Jenson, Trevor van Reimsdyk and newly acquired Rasmus Sandin are all signed for the next few years. In 32 games played this season, Alexeyev recorded no goals and five assists. He had a plus/minus of -2 while netting 16.27 minutes of ice time per game. He was also a very careful player, as he only had four minutes in the penalty box. He had a tally of 28 shots on the season. At 23 years old, and being drafted back in 2018, he has a good career ahead of him. He’s also a big physical presence on the blue line standing at 6.4 and 213 pounds.
