Brooks Oprik to miss 4-6 weeks after knee surgery

The Washington Capitals are going to be without their veteran defenseman, Brooks Orpik, for the foreseeable future. Orpik underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee this morning. It is expected that Orpik will miss the next 4-6 weeks of the season.

The Caps will look to their young defensemen to continue playing in his absence. Jonas Siegnthaler was recalled from Hershey on Monday. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Caps make another call to Hershey to bring another defenseman up to provide depth.

The Caps will face off with the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night in Washington.
