Hershey Bears lose second game of the weekend 2-1 to Bridgeport Sound Tigers

The Hershey Bears finished their opening weekend with a welcomed visit with the Stanley Cup! Fans were welcomed starting at noon to have their photos taken with the cherished trophy. After the celebration, the game began, and Hershey fell short 2-1 to the Brigeport Sound Tigers.

The first twenty minutes of play would send the Bears to the locker room with no score on the board. Former Hershey Bears left wing Chris Bourque scored first for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 6:56 in the second period. Mike Sgarbossa would get in second goal of the weekend six minutes later at 13:51 to tie the game. Sgarbossa was named away game alternate captain at the home opener, alongside Colby Williams and Tyler Lewington.

In the final period Bridgeport’s Steven Bernier put the Sound Tigers ahead by one at 2:56 making it 2-1. The score would remain that way for rest of the third and Hershey lost to Bridgeport 2-1. Vitek Vanecek stopped twenty of twenty shots. Hershey was outshot 22-21 for the night.

The Hershey Bears will be heading to the bus for a two week long road trip, stopping first in Grand Rapids for a 7PM puck drop. Listen to the all the action, as the voice of the bears Zach Fisch will be calling the shots on the Bears Radio Network!
