The Olympics Add Flag Football to the 2028 Summer Games

Comes as the Olympics are having a tough time with sagging ratings and need for new sports.

An announcement was made by the International Olympic Committee that Flag Football will be added to the docket of sports that are featured at the summer games. This comes on the heels of sagging ratings over the past few years when it comes to the summer games as the Olympic Movement is angering sports fans by removing popular events.

How it will work according to the International Federation of American Football

  • 4 quarters of play
  • 30yd x 70yd field
  • 10 minutes apiece with a 7-minute half-time.
  • Running clock
  • 22-second play clock
  • NFL rules for penalties
  • 1-pt, 2-pt, 3-pt extra point tries from 2, 5, and 10 yards
  • 2 flags side to side
  • 7-second pass clock
  • Grass fields only
  • Three Different Leagues, 5 v. 5, 7 v. 7, 9 v. 9
  • 32-nation group play and single-elimination knockout format
  • Women’s and Men’s side of football
  • No-Run Zones
  • 10-yard Goal

Many retired and current football players are very excited at the prospect of playing flag football against the nation. I personally believe it’s going to be a great addition to the Olympic Disciplines and I cannot wait to see how badly the U.S.A. pounds the rest of the nation with the leagues of the best players in the National Football League going up against the rest of the world.

The 3 nations that might give the U.S.A. a challenge in my opinion are Japan, Canada, and Italy. Japan does have the X-League, Canada has the Canadian Football League, and Italy? Flag football is played a lot by kids in the nation.

I definitely say this: United States takes gold and will score probably at least 1,000 points in total in group and knockout play.
