Capitals open the season against the New York Rangers at home

On Wednesday, October 13th, the Washington Capitals will begin their season at home against division foe New York Rangers. This game offers many interesting aspects as well as sets a tone for the rest of the season. First, one of the last games against the Rangers ended with a lot of fights going on because a player jumped Tom Wilson after a play and scrum. Secondly, Nicklas Backstrom is out with a hip injury and hasn’t skated at all this pre season, and Alex Ovechkin is day to day with a lower body injury so it will be interesting to see who steps up in this game and in future games until those players are back. It will also be interesting to see how Anthony Mantha does this season after starting out hot after the trade from Detroit and fizzling out after those first few games.

The game is on TNT at 7:30 and can also be heard on 106.7 fm
