Capitals off season recap

The Capitals decided to let Illya Samsonov and Vitek Vanachek leave to other teams through a trade and free agency. This left the team with zero goaltenders. They signed Darcy Kuemper to a five year deal, giving the team the goaltender of the future. They also signed Charlie Lindgren to a three year contract giving the Capitals a solid backup to Kuemper.

The team also filled some needs on the defensive side signing Erik Gustafsson to a one year contract. Gabriel Carlsson and Matt Irwin both signed one year two way contracts meaning they will split time between Hershey and on the NHL level.

On the forwards front, the team signed center Dylan Strome to a one year contract. The team also signed Marcus Johansson to a one year deal. Henrik Borgstrom signed a one year two way contract, ensuing that he will split time between the NHL level and Hersey.
