Capitals continue the road trip, and play the Panthers in a rematch of the first round playoffs

The Washington Capitals are on a three game road trip. It started Sunday, on the back end of a home and home with Tampa. The Caps need to bounce back after a very lackluster showing against Tampa. It doesn’t help that the Caps are still really banged up and have a good chunk of players on the injury list. While the injuries are a lot to overcome, its not impossible to overcome this setback.

Alex Ovechkin is continuing his hunt to get to 800 career goals and is sitting at 788 goals. He hasn’t hit the back of the net in the past three games, so look for him to have a fire under him.

The Caps have found some solace in unsung hero’s stepping up in recent games. Players like Connor Sheary, Marcus Johansson, Nicolas Aube-Kubel who was picked up off of waivers recently, have all been stepping up in place of the injured stars. These players who normally don’t get much recognition have been playing physical but smart hockey.

Darcy Kuemper and Charlie Lindgron have been playing very well in goal. Kuemper has been playing up to the massive contract he signed in the offseason, and Lindgron is a solid backup and both goalies boast a very good save percentage, and goals against average.
