Wizards lose must win against Jazz

The Utah Jazz overwhelmed the Washington Wizards in a 116-95 blowout win on Monday night. Five Utah players scored in double figures tonight led by thier young superstar Donovan Mitchell with 19 points and Jae Crowder with 18. Bradley Beal has been on fire his last two games scoring 40 in each but Utah cared less about that. Utah is a good defensive team they made it clear someone besides Beal was going to have to beat them. At all times there was a body on Beal looking right at him even if it meant the defender’s back was to the ball. On every pick situation, both defenders went to Beal at least initially.

The Washington guard had no breathing room all night because Utah knew there was not another option on the team that was going to do enough damage. The closest thing to a scoring spark for the Wizards tonight was Jabari Parker, who had 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting. In the second half, Washington finally could do something on the offensive end. However, the defensive end continued to be the biggest issue all night as they couldn’t get any stops when they needed them. Utah opened the game outscoring the Wizards by 8. Fast forward to the third quarter, they took a 91-71 lead which ultimately blew the whole game open and put a clamp on any type of come back effort.

Washington is now 4 1/2 games behind eighth-place Miami in the Eastern Conference with 11 games remaining. Up next, the Wizards travel to Chicago to take on the Bulls Wednesday Night.
