Washington Capitals Lose Third Straight Game 3-2

The Washington Capitals have let us down again and for the first time trail this series 3-2 after a 3-2 lost tonight in Tampa Bay. The Washington Capitals had the worst first period of hockey they played all season letting Tampa Bay forward Cedric Paquette scoring in the first 17 seconds of the game.

The Capitals played flat-footed, slow and unmotivated during the entire first period they got outshot 13-4, and went into the second period down by two goals.

The Capitals yet again let in another goal in the first minute of the second period when Ryan Callahan gave Tampa Bay a 3-0 lead. Luckily Evgeny Kuznetsov cut down the lead scoring in the first five minutes make it 3-1.

The Capitals played a great second period they outshot Tampa 13-4, they out hit Tampa and controlled play in Tampa’s defensive zone. The Capitals then carried that momentum in the third.

The Capitals outshot Tampa again 13-5 and played like a hungry team. Give credit to Tampa’s checking line shuttling down the Ovechkin line only giving that line one shot all game until the last three minutes.

Tampa blocked a lot of shots all game, and cleared a lot of re-bounds. The Capitals almost forced overtime after Alex Ovechkin unleashed a laser of a shot cutting the lead to one goal. Unfortunately the Capitals couldn’t get another goal and now one more lost is the end of the year.
