UMBC Hires Jim Ferry As Men’s Basketball Coach

On Monday UMBC announced Jim Ferry is their new men’s basketball coach. He replaces Ryan Odom who is now at Utah State. Ferry was the interim coach at Penn State this past season. The Nittany Lions finished with an 11-14 record overall and 7-12 in the Big Ten. He was named interim coach on October 20th when Pat Chambers resigned. Before that we was the head coach at Duquesne from 2012-17 where he went 60-97.

Ferry led Long Island to back to back NCAA Tournaments in 2011 and 2012. Ferry graduated from Keene State in 1990. The next year he started his coaching career as an assistant at the school. In 1998 he got his first head coaching job at Plymouth State. His overall record as a head coach is 325-279. He is married with 4 children.

The official announcement will be Wednesday.
