Ravens Re-sign Brent Urban to One-Year Deal

The Baltimore Ravens announced today that they have re-signed DE Brent Urban.

Urban missed significant portions of three of his first three seasons with the team, including last year where he suffered a Lisfranc foot injury in week two, requiring him to get surgery  finish the season on injured reserve.

Losing Urban was a significant blow to the Ravens defensive line.  Urban is a tall defensive lineman and deflects a lot of passes and kicks.

Signing Urban is a high reward low risk move.  If Urban is ever healthy the Ravens have a strong starting defensive end who can pass rush and stuff the run.

Here is the Ravens’ press release:

“RAVENS AGREE TO TERMS WITH DE BRENT URBAN The Baltimore Ravens have signed DE Brent Urban to a one-year contract, general manager/executive vice president Ozzie Newsome announced Tuesday. Entering his fifth NFL season, Urban has appeared in 25 games (three starts) for the Ravens, recording 25 tackles (16 solo), 3 sacks (-12 yards) and 2 passes defensed. He has also blocked two field goal attempts in his career: a fourth-quarter block in a 19-17 win at Jacksonville (9/26/16) and another that was returned 64 yards for the game-winning touchdown in his NFL debut at Cleveland (11/30/15). In 2017, Urban started the season’s first three games, recording 4 tackles, before landing on Injured Reserve with a foot injury. He was originally selected by the Ravens in the fourth round (134th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.”
