November 1st Maryland Division III Playoff Winners

VARIOUS LOCATIONS – There were seven NCAA Division III Conference playoff match-ups that featured teams from the state of Maryland (including one that had two teams from the state in it).  Here are the results of those advancing on:

#3 SEED SALISBURY SEA GULLS at #2 SEED FROSTBURG STATE BOBCATS2017 Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Semi-Finals

FROSTBURG, Md. – In the 83rd minute, Bobcats Senior M Melanie Bell’s (with assist from  Senior D Alyssa Malanik) free kick from about 45-50 yards out made it into the net and was the difference as Frostburg State defeated the Salisbury Sea Gulls, 1-0, at Bobcat Stadium on Wednesday night in the 2017 CAC Women’s Soccer Semi-Finals.

Bobcats Junior GK Emily Faust saved all seven shots she saw.  Sea Gulls Junior GK Hope Knussman did allow the one goal but she also had six saves in the loss.

Frostburg State now will play #1 seed Christopher Newport (who defeated #4 St. Mary’s Maryland, 2-0, Wednesday night in Newport News, Virginia), on Saturday, November 4th at Newport News, Virginia to see who will win the 2017 CAC Women’s Soccer Championship.

#5 SEED GETTYSBURG  BULLETS at #4 SEED MCDANIEL GREEN TERROR2017 Centennial Conference Women’s Soccer 1st Round

WESTMINSTER, Md. – It took until the 95th minute when McDaniel Green Terror Junior M/D Alyssa Johnston scored the only goal of the game to give McDaniel a 1-0 victory over the Gettysburg Bullets in the 2017 CC Women’s Soccer 1st Round.

Green Terror Freshman GK Sydney Kelly only saw two shots on goal for the entire game and saved both shots.  McDaniel will now travel to #1 seed Johns Hopkins on Saturday, November 4th to take on the Blue Jays in the 2017 CC Women’s Soccer Semi-Finals.  Game time is scheduled for 4:00 pm.

#5 SEED MCDANIEL GREEN TERROR at #4 FRANKLIN & MARSHALL DIPLOMATS2017 Centennial Conference Women’s Volleyball 1st Round

LANCASTER, Pa. – At Mayser Center, the McDaniel Green Terror used a 9-2 start to the fifth set and on back to back kills by Freshman MH Emma Lorenzen gave McDaniel the fifth and decisive set, 15-9, and helped defeat the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats, three sets to two (25-23; 15-25; 15-25; 25-16; 15-9).

McDaniel will now play #1 seed Johns Hopkins Blue Jays in Baltimore on Saturday, November 4th at 1:00 pm in the 2017 CC Women’s Volleyball Semi-Finals.

#4 SEED ALVERNIA GOLDEN WOLVES at #1 SEED STEVENSON MUSTANGS2017 Middle Athletic Conference Commonwealth Conference Women’s Volleyball Semi-Finals

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – At Owings Mills Gym, Mustangs Junior RS Moriah Savage had 10 kills and the team only had eight hitting errors for the entire match as the #1 seed Stevenson Mustangs (#15 Ranked nationally) won their 19th consecutive match and swept past #4 seed Alvernia Golden Wolves, three sets to none (25-12; 25-12; 25-20) on Wednesday night.

Senior OH Annika Schwartz had five service aces for the Mustangs in the win.  Stevenson will now host #2 seed Arcadia Knights on Saturday, November 4th at 2:00 pm for the 2017 MAC Commonwealth Conference Women’s Volleyball Championship.
