Nationals Lineup and Preview: 7/12/19

To open the second-half of the season, the Washington Nationals will take on the Philadelphia Phillies in a four-game series beginning today at Citizens Bank Park on July 12th, 2019.

In the last 39 contests, Washington has claimed victory in 28 of them, which puts them in second place in the N.L. East division. As of now, the Nationals hold a 47-42 record, while the Phillies stand at 47-43.

The pitching matchup for today’s game is scheduled to be RHP Stephen Strasburg(10-4, 3.64 ERA) facing off against RHP Nick Pivetta(4-3, 5.84 ERA). In his last start against Philadelphia, Strasburg threw four innings while giving up a horrendous six earned runs, which occurred on April 9th. On the other side of the dugout, Pivetta of the Phillies threw 5 and one-third innings, while also surrendering six runs in his last start against Washington, which was on June 20th.
