Nationals lineup: 7/2/2019

The Washington Nationals are set to open a home series against the Miami Marlins tonight. Patrick Corbin (7-5, 3.71 ERA) will start the series opener for the Nationals while the Marlins start Zac Gallen (0-1, 3.60). In the last game against Gallen, the Nationals had beaten the Marlins 7-5 at Marlins Park and left Miami with a clean sweep, and the Nationals hope to repeat that for the Independence Day week series.

In the wake of yesterday's death of Tyler Skaggs (Los Angeles Angels), Corbin will wear Skaggs' number, 45, tonight. The Angels had drafted both of them in 2009, and Skaggs and Corbin became close friends throughout their careers. In fact, they were even traded together to the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2010, and while Skaggs was traded back to the Angels in December 2013, Corbin remained with the Arizona Diamondbacks until his free agency and eventual signing with the Nationals.

Tonight's lineup is as follows:

  1. Trea Turner - SS
  2. Adam Eaton - RF
  3. Anthony Rendon - 3B
  4. Juan Soto - LF
  5. Howie Kendrick - 2B
  6. Ryan Zimmerman - 1B
  7. Victor Robles - CF
  8. Yan Gomes - C
  9. Patrick Corbin - SP

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. E.T.
