Hershey Bears win second straight home game, beat Lehigh Valley 3-1

The Hershey Bears hosted their second home game of the weekend Sunday night against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Fans will be invited to the ice after the game for a 75 minute autograph session and an opportunity to meet the new faces of the Chocolate and White.

In the first period Mike Sgarbossa would get his fourth goal of the season at 1:17 in the first to give Hershey the lead. Aaron Ness and Connor Hobbs would both gets points on the play for their assists. The period would end with no other goals and Hershey would head to the locker room with a 1-0 lead.

It would be Hershey’s current top scorer, Liam O’Brien who gave Hershey a two goal advantage, earning his sixth goal of the season at 1:51 in the second period. With the score 2-0, Connor Bunnaman would put Lehigh Valley on the board at 10:16 in the period after catching a quick pass from Phil Varone.

In the third period Lehigh Valley would be penalized for hooking Riley Barber on a breakaway, resulting in a penalty shot in favor of the Bears. Barber would take advantage of the penalty shot opportunity putting Hershey ahead 3-1 at 3:36 in the period.  The rest of the final period would finish out scoreless and Hershey would earn their second win of the weekend, beating Lehigh Valley 3-1. Hershey was outshot 35-34. Hershey’s record now stands at 4-6-0-1.

Hershey will find themselves on the road again, for a Friday night match up against the Rochester Americans for a 7PM puck drop. As always Zach Fisch will be calling all the shots on the Bears Radio Network.
