Capitals goaltender Henrik Lundqvist to sit out the upcoming hockey season
Lundqvist who was signed to the Washington Capitals back in October, announced today that he is sitting out this upcoming season. This announcement was made on social media.
He sited the reason for this is due to a heart condition. He said after talking with doctors, the risks of playing this season were just to high. After this announcement was made, there was a lot of positive messages sent his way, from Capitals players.
While the health and safety of all players and coaches, is the biggest concern, this does leave an interesting void at the goaltender position. While Samsonov is believed to be the starting goaltender next season, there is no backup.
