College Football Preview: Morgan State (0-3) at NC A&T (3-0)

The Morgan State Bears (0-3) will go on the road to take on the North Carolina A&T State University Aggies (3-0) for both teams’ first game within the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) tomorrow, Saturday 9.22 at 6pm. Morgan State showed some life in their last game, a 30-27 loss against UAlbany. However, they face a daunting task this week squaring off against an unbeaten NC A&T team that thumped Gardener-Webb 45-6 last week.

NC A&T’s defense is led by an All-American Defensive Back, sophomore Franklin “Mac” McCain III. The DB is a rising star whose propensity to pick off the quarterback and shut down receivers has earned his side of the field being dubbed “McCain Island” (*cough* Derrelle Revis *cough*) and has had opposing quarterbacks shying away from throwing his way of late. This Aggies team is loaded with talented players, and they are currently ranked No. 4 in the FCS Poll.

One has to be concerned that Bears quarterback Deandre Harris will regress back to turning the ball over, a trait he seemed to shake off in their previous game. However, he is facing a team where the offense will likely score points early and often forcing him to take on this extremely tough defense head on.

The matchup looks lopsided, but games aren’t played on paper. The Bears will look for the upset to notch their first win of the season, and a first opening game win in the MEAC since 2016.
