Young is Mr. Reliable off the bench

Delmon Young is batting .311 for the Baltimore Orioles this season. Young has an excellent pickup by the Orioles. I know this term is thrown around a lot but Young is truly a professional hitter.

Young  will go weeks without starting and somehow come off the bench to start a game and will get hits. One key reason for Young not playing as much as he can hit he is not the best fielder.

About  everyone in Baltimore has fallen in love in Steve Pearce. In my opinion Pearce is just an average player who can play first and corner outfield positions. Pearce is having the season of his life.

Young was a number one overall pick by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2003 draft. He has under performed for a number one overall pick but has still been a solid player. He is a free agent after this year which leaves his future with the Orioles in doubt.

I think Young, Pearce should play about fifty-fifty depending on history vs a specific pitcher on a certain night. When Pearce plays he should play mostly left field and Nelson Cruz as DH. When Young plays Cruz in left and Young as the DH.

I’m not saying Young should be a every day player just a every other day player. Young would be a great option for the Orioles to re-sign at the end of this season to keep being a good option has a hitter.
