World Cup Group D Preview
Group D is going to be wild to watch in Russia this year with a group loaded with talent. Group D features Argentina, Croatia, Nigeria and Iceland.
Even though a strong team like Argentina are the clear favorites for this group, but the three other teams competing will make for great entertainment. A lot of people are predicting Iceland who is the smallest country in the World Cup to be a dark horse surprise team as they have been in the past, but Croatia is another team who could make a splash.
Croatia is lead by star forward Luka Modric who currently plays for Real Madrid is looking to go far in this tournament. Croatia best appearance was a third place finish back in 1998, but look to get back in the final four this year.
Iceland is making their World Cup debut this year after a strong finish in 2016 in the Euro championship. They are lead by star forward and Iceland hero Gylfi Sigurdsson who has been a star in Iceland since 2016. Iceland beat Ukraine, Croatia and Turkey in the Euros and wants to continue the momentum for the countries World Cup debut.
Nigeria as always looks to be one of the best countries in Africa in the World Cup. They have finished in second place three different times, and they want to win it all. Nigeria is lead by star winger Victor Moses who currently plays for Chelsea in the English Premier League.
The country of Nigeria has made every Cup except for one, but the country has won a lot of friendly matches against some good competition and looks to win the countries first World Cup.
Argentina is loaded with star talent, and some predictions call Argentina the favorites to win it all. Argentina is lead by players such as Lionel Messi, Sergio Agüero and Pauli Dybala. Argentina could show up and crush the rest of the teams in group D, or could be a bust due to too many super stars with egos.
