World Cup Group A Breakdown and Predictions

The World Cup is right around the corner and the soccer fans are excited all around the world. For group A the countries being represented are host country Russia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Uruguay.

First game of group A is Russia vs Saudi Arabia. The home fans in Russia will be fired despite being ranked 66 in FIFA’s rankings. Russian national team regulars are sidelined with injuries and will be a young team.

For Saudi Arabia they are the lowest ranked team in FIFA’s rankings making them a long shot to win a game in the World Cup. Most of the Saudi Arabia team plays professionally in there home county except for three players playing who play in Spain.

Egypt could be a sleeper team in this years World Cup coming into the tournament being ranked by FIFA as the 46 best team in the world. Egypt is worried about their star forward Mohamed Salah who was injuried playing for Liverpool in the UEFA championship game against Real Madrid. Salah has scored 44 goals in total playing for Egypt who will be highly accounted on.

Last and not least we have Uruguay. Uruguay is a high powered team who is going into the World Cup as the 17 best team in the world. Uruguay has a lot of international stars such as Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain) and Luis Suarez (FC Barcelona). It’s a safe bet to say Uruguay if the team stays health can easily sweep group A.

Final standing predictions.

Uruguay: 3 wins 0 loses

Russia: 2 wins 1 loses

Egypt: 1 win 2 loses

Saudi Arabia: 0 wins

I think Russia will beat Egypt in a 3-2 win. I think the players are going to be jacked up playing in there home country, but Uruguay is to good of a team for Russia to beat. Saudi Arabia I think gets swept because they just don’t have the quality of players like the other three countries.
