WNIT deja vu for Navy Women’s Basketball

This entire postseason has been a series of revenge and deja vu for the Navy Midshipmen.

In the Patriot League semifinals, they sought, and achieved, revenge against Bucknell Bison, after losing to them in the 2017 Patriot League Finals, and both times during regular season 2017-18. The Mids faced American University Eagles on Sunday to take home the championship title, yet for a second year in a row lost. Now, on Friday night March 16th, the Mids will travel down to Blacksburg, Virginia to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies in the first round of WNIT.

Revenge is at stake once again.

In the 2017 WNIT tournament, the Mids beat George Washington Colonials in the first round, to then take on the Hokies, in Blacksburg. Virginia Tech simply dominated that game, having the lead for 38 minutes 33 seconds of the entire game (and never lost the lead; tied once for 1:27), 12 points scored on fast breaks, 12-22 beyond the arc, and capitalized at the line going 17-20. Navy lost 75-64.

This season the Hokies finished 18-13 overall, 6-10 in ACC play, and 11-4 at home.
