Wizards get back on track with a 116-106 win over the Spurs

The Washington Wizards got a big win over the San Antonio Spurs Tuesday night, ending the three-game losing streak and leaving the Wizards at 41-33 and sixth in the playoff bracket. Coming into the game Coach Brooks stated that the team needed to play with more intensity and that’s exactly what they did.

Some highlights:

Markieff Morris’s perfect night: Morris went 7-7 on the night for a total of 15 points (team high) to go along with two REB, a steal, and an assist. While he did get into some foul trouble with four to go along with three turnovers, but he still had a strong game overall. If Keef can into a rhythm going into the playoffs that could be a game changer.

Otto Porter was solid: Otto went 6-7 on the night for 14 points, going perfect from the arc. All the while having two REB, three AST, two STL, and 2 BLK for a solid night. A nice performance by him, who you can just tell is itching to get John Wall back to give him those open looks.

The bench performs: The bench really showed up tonight and in a big way. They had 56 points and 26 REB to help the team to a win. Kelly Oubre had a solid night and continues to be a fun player to watch. Also, my boy Ian Mahinmi had a great game with 8 points and 5 REB, him playing well really elevates the level of the bench.

Random notes: John Wall is so close to returning, also has a new haircut… LaMarcus Aldridge getting hurt in the in the second half was significant but not the total reason why the Wizards won… seven Wizards had double digit points, Beal and Sato were not one of those.

Whats Next: The Wizards (41-33) face off against the Detroit Pistons (34-40) for a chance to clinch the playoffs on Thursday, John Wall might play, and he might not. Tipoff at 7:00 PM
