Wizards Fall to the Spurs 98-90

The Washington Wizards lost to the San Antonio Spurs Wednesday night by a score of 98-90, dropping the Wizards to 40-31 and 6th in the playoff race. However, they are still only 2 games out of 4th Place in the East, so it is going to be a fun playoff positioning race.

Some thoughts from the game:

Beal continues to ball: The Wizards only healthy All-Star continues to remind everyone how good he is. He and Marcin Gortat were in a rhythm early, using the pick and rolls to perfection. Even with the Spurs suffocating defense, Beal put up 21 points and had 1 assist.

Sato has a night to forget: The stats speak for themselves. 0 points. While he did have 6 assists and 6 rebounds, he disappeared for long stretches of the game. He also played 32 minutes, an interesting decision from Coach Brooks. Remember when people said that the Wizards were better without John Wall, yeah not anymore.

OUBRE!!!: Kelly Oubre continues to impress off the bench, tying with Beal for a team high 21 points going along with 6 REB, 3 AST, 2 STL, and 2 BLK. He seems to be getting his 3-point shot back going 3-6 from the arc. He continues to be aggressive to the basket and bring that youth intensity to the team. Also, a big fan of his 34 minutes.

What’s next for the Wizards: The Wizards face off against the Denver Nuggets on Friday as they continue to vie for Playoff position,  Tipoff is at 7:00 PM
