The Washington Wizards came into Charlotte on a two-game winning streak trying to stay hot but came up just short in 112-111 loss.

Six Wizards scored in double-figures, led by Bobby Portis with 23, while Jabari Parker and Thomas Bryant scored 15 and 12 points respectively but it wouldn’t be enough for a Washington team that was held scoreless over the final two minutes of the game. As for the other team, Kemba Walker scored 18 and Jeremy Lamb had 19 points and 10 rebounds. The player of the game for Charlotte was defintely Marvin Williams who poured in seven three-pointers and finished with a season-high 30 points, helping the Hornets snap a five-game home losing streak.

The Hornets got a much needed win to remain in the hunt for the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs while the Washington Wizards must start another streak if they’re going to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Wizards are now 11 games under .500 and 3.5 games behind the Miami Heat, who currently hold the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Wizards visit the Timberwolves on Saturday night before returning for a five-game homestand. The Hornets visit the Bucks on Saturday night, the first of four straight road games.
