Winners of five straight, Caps face Penguins on rivalry night in the NHL

The Pens lost their last time out, coming off back to back wins. The Penguins would lose 4-2 to this visiting Anaheim on Monday. Pittsburgh led 2-0 on first period goals by Evgeni Malkin and Bryan Rust while Casey DeSmith gave up three goals on 35 shots to get the loss.

Last time out for the Capitals was a win over a hot Buffalo Sabres team. It took a shootout for the second straight game for the Capitals, but a win and two points is still two points. Alex Ovechkin, who leads the league in goals scored the game winning goal in the shootout. Ovechkin leads the team in points with 43, and goals with 29. Nicklas Backstrom is the leader on the team in assists with 30 on the season and a +15 rating.
