What’s next for the Orioles?

After this weekends FanFest a common issue kept coming up between fans and GM Dan Duquette, Whats the plan to address and rebuild the pitching rotation?  Duquette kept answering the rotation questions by stating, “Don’t ask me how exactly” but he’s “confident” it will get done. Well I sure hope so Dan becuase I don’t want to see Ubaldo back in Baltimore.

Not only is the pitching rotation a glaring issue but a right fielder is too. Ever since Markakis has left Baltimore, a left-handed hitting outfielder has been on the birds wish list. One name that comes to mind is 33-year-old speedster Jarrod Dyson, not only would he handle right field but he would add much needed speed since Felix Pie. With that in mind, a aging Dyson may not be the everyday right-fielder but he would help guide Orioles top-prospect Austin Hays.

Another name to come up in conversation is Jon Jay, who the Orioles targeted since day one of the off-season. Jay who also is turning 33-years-old this season is coming off a decent year for the Cubs. One issue that seems to shy Jay away is playing in the American league.

John Jay- .288/.355/.383

Jarrod Dyson- .258/.325/.352

Given Dyson vs Jay, I would prefer to see a Dyson & Hays as the RF combination. Even if Dyson losses the RF job to the #22 prospect in the MLB, Austin Hays, Dyson would still play a role for the Orioles on the bases and in the locker room.
