Week 15: Ravens’ Keys To The Game

Later today the Ravens are in “The Land” to face off agains the 0-14 Cleveland Browns. Many believe that this could be a set up game for the Ravens as they make their final push for the postseason. This past week, many fans have recalled the last time a Ravens team lost to a winless team, the Miami Dolphins back in 2007. Baltimore can not afford the major upset if they want that sixth seed, as they still control their own destiny for the remainder of the season. Here are the keys to a Ravens victory.

Repeat Performance Against Cleveland

In their first matchup earlier this season the Ravens feasted on Browns’ rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer. Three interceptions and a forced fumble made the day a living nightmare for the first year man out of Notre Dame. Putting up a repeat performance from the defense, along with the scorching offense should put any hopes of an upset to rest. The secondary will need to play a lot better than they did last week, but of course that was against a future Hall of Fame quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger. DeShone Kizer is nowhere near the threat of Big Ben so this should be a rather “easy” win for Baltimore. But of course knowing the Ravens, there’s always the possibility of a letdown.

Contain Josh Gordon

Antonio Brown absolutely shredded the Ravens’ secondary last week racking up over 200 receiving yards while constantly beating cornerback Brandon Carr off the snap. Now again there is a major difference between Brown and Gordon who played only two games in four years. But do not be fooled, Gordon is still a legitimate threat when on the field. He is a big bodied receiver who can go up and get the ball. With Jimmy Smith injured, I expect the Ravens to go with the same game plan as last week. No one cornerback will shadow no one receiver. Therefore, Gordon will see a little bit of both Marlon Humphrey and Brandon Carr. Humphrey had his best game of his rookie campaign against one of the top offenses in the game. Focusing on stopping Gordon should be one of the main focal points for the defense because Gordon can still be a game changer no matter how long he’s been gone.

Feed Alex Collins

Last week running back Alex Collins ran like a wild man all over the Steelers defense. If the Ravens would have fed him the ball more, they probably would have came out victorious. But instead a couple of bad play calls later and Baltimore has an L on their schedule. Collins ran for a buck twenty with a touchdown. Alex looks like he could be the featured back here in Baltimore for a while, and he should be ridden all the way to the playoffs starting today. What a find he was.

Game Day Prediction:

Ravens 38, Browns 13
