Washington Wizards 2017-2018 Player Profile: Tomas Satoransky

Tomas Satoransky was a big storyline during the second half of the year for the Wizards. The 2012 second round draft pick was a draft and stash that came over for the 2016-2017 season where Satoransky did not get much time, but he finally got his chance in his second season. Satoransky is entering a contract year before hitting restricted free agency.

When John Wall went down with an injury last season, head coach Scott Brooks put his confidence in Satoransky to be the full time starter and it paid off. Satoransky filled in admirably for Wall and kept the Wizards in the playoff race.

2017-2018 Statistics:
MPG: 22.5
FG%: .523
3P%:.465
FT%: .642
RPG: 3.2
APG: 3.9
BPG: .2
PPG: 7.2

As well as Satoransky played when filling in for Wall, during the playoffs it became clear that Brooks did not fully trust him. Ty Lawson was signed out of China and immediately became the backup point guard despite having not been on the team or in the NBA the whole year. Satoransky essentially fell out of the rotation for most of the series and only scored seven points total in the six games.

As of right now Lawson is not on the Wizards roster, and if it remains that way Satoransky should be in line to be the backup point guard. It will be interesting to see if they try to trade Satoransky before the deadline if they do not plan on resigning him.

As long as Brooks has confidence in Satoransky, he should be able to produce at an above average level for a backup point guard.
