Washington Wizards 2017-2018 Player Profile: Otto Porter

Otto Porter and his contract are always a hot topic of discussion among Wizard fans. Drafted with the third pick in the 2013 draft, Porter draws very mixed reviews from fans. He has three years left on his contract where he will make $27 million a year which is a max contract.

It is up for debate whether you think Porter is worth that contract. There are a lot of advanced analytics that point to Porter being a better player than a lot of people give him credit for, but when you watch him play it is obvious he is very inconsistent.

2017-2018 Statistics:
MPG: 31.6
FG%: .503
3P%:.441
FT%: .828
RPG: 6.4
APG: 2.0
BPG: .5
PPG: 14.7

In 2017-2018 Porter had career highs in points, rebounds, and assists but then collapsed in the playoffs averaging only 10 points and shooting just 33% from three. This is in part do to Porters hip injury which he played through in the first five games then forced him to miss game six.

This upcoming year will be career defining for Porter, if he takes the next step to be an all star it could mean a deep playoff run for the Wizards. If it goes the other way and Porter does not show the improvement the front office wants to see, he will be on the trade block.
