Washington hosts Dallas in the biggest home game of the year

Washington vs Dallas is always a big deal. It is even a bigger deal when the two teams are fighting for the division and a playoff spot. Dallas is just two games ahead of the burgundy and gold and with a Washington win today, they could be in a spot to steal the division.

Trash Talk

Earlier this week Cowboys coach Mike Mcarthy had something to say about his team’s chances Sunday.

I am all for being confident in your team but I don’t think adding fuel to an already blazing Washington fire was the right idea. It’s never a great idea in any rivalry to add extra motivation to the opposition.

Rivera’s response was perfect though.

It doesn’t seem the Cowboy’s overly confident coach is gonna impact the mindset of Rivera’s mentally tough locker room.

Keys To The Game

Dallas has the best receivers Washington’s secondary will see all year. Both Lamb and Cooper are real threats on the outside and Gallup in the slot. Our secondary is gonna need to limit the big plays as they have in this winning streak.

Washington’s OL vs Dallas’s DL is the matchup to watch. Washington has dominated the trenches during this winning streak. They will need to do so again today if they want to walk away with a win.

Heinicke has been playing smart football since they bye week. I expect the same today. I also expect this Dallas defense to try and get under his skin. Hopefully, he can stay calm and collected and not let the emotion of the rivalry take over.

Injuries

Tony Pollard has been their most dynamic running back this season and he is listed as questionable. With Zeke taking most of the load I don’t see their running game being a factor.

Washington will need to get Landon Collins back today. He was out last week and looks to be on track for today. Samuel is also expected to play but unfortunately, McKissic is not expected to play due to a concussion.

Predictions

Washington won both matchups last year against Dallas. But that was with a Dak-less Cowboys. Dallas with Dak is a different team and even though Dak doesn’t look 100%, that will be the biggest difference. The offense is just more explosive with him in control.

BUT, with all that being said, Washington is the hottest team in the NFL. They beat Tom Brady and the Bucs, which are a better team than Dallas. They held the Raiders to 15 points and won the game. Dallas gave up 36 and lost to those same Raiders. While every week is a different week in the NFL and matchups mean everything. I feel confident in the burgundy and gold today.

Washington wins 24-20 in yet another nail-bitter.
