Washington Commanders at Dallas Cowboys Week 4 Preview

The Washington Commanders travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys at 1 PM on Fox. The Commanders O-Line needs to be a lot better than last week when they gave up 9 sacks. It doesn’t get any easier this week because the Cowboys lead the league in sacks. If the Commanders can’t contain Micah Parson and Demarcus Lawrence it will be another long day for Carson Wentz and this offense will struggle. The Commanders defense had a better showing last week, but still gave up big plays. Hopefully this week they don’t give any up and we will have a defensive battle in Dallas on Sunday.

Offense

The O-line for the Commanders last week was terrible. It didn’t matter what position you looked at they all played bad. Now this week the Commanders will be staring another new center in Nick Martin. Martin played his first four seasons in Houston and last year in Vegas. He at least has some experience, but he was a free agent till last week, so not expecting greatness from him. Hopefully the game plan this week is to run the ball and on passes get the ball out quick or move the pocket. If not this Cowboys pass rush is going to kill the Commanders O-line and Wentz.

For the first time this season I would like to see a turnover free game from this offense. The Commanders haven’t had a turnover free game yet this season and Sunday would be a great place to stop turning it over. If they can do that and somehow block this Dallas defense they can win this game. If not look for another sluggish game from this offense and another lost for the Commanders.

Defense

The Defense will need to focus on stopping the run this week against the Cowboys. Last week Dallas ran for 178 yards and was the main reason why they won over the Giants. The Commanders did pretty good against the run last week against the Eagles and they will need to that again Sunday. If the defense can stop the run and force Copper Rush to throw the ball they will have a good day on defense. I don’t believe Rush can throw in tight windows consistently at this point in his career. So they key for the Commanders is stuff the run and play press coverage.

Injuries

Predictions

I believe Scott Turner will change the offense this week and make sure the ball comes out quick, or run some boots to give Wentz time. I also believe the Commanders will run more this week. If not this offense will have some problems and this game will get ugly for the Commanders. Also on the defense I believe they will sell out against the run and make Rush try to beat and force him to commit a couple of turnovers. I believe the Commanders will win 24-17 over the Cowboys.
