Washington Capitals Win in Overtime Against Montreal Canadians 5-4

The Washington Capitals came back after trailing by three goals in the second period and defeated the Montreal Canadians 5-4 in overtime.

Washington trailed for most of the game when Montreal forward Mike Reilly started off the night scoring giving Montreal a 1-0 lead. Later Brett Connolly tied up the game with 13 minutes left in the first period.

A few minutes later Tom Wilson delivered a slam dunk pass to Alex Ovechkin for his 14th goal of the season for a 2-1 lead.

Later Washington had there worst start of any period this year allowing Montreal to score three goals in the first two minutes of the the second period. Phoenix Copley was pulled after allowing four goals on 22 shots.

Braden Holtby later came in relief and was lights out stopping all 22 shots, and was one of the main reasons the Capitals won tonight.

The Capitals fought hard after trailing Montreal showing great grit, team chemistry and great goaltending gave the Capitals a win. It is hard to believe there was two fights in tonight’s game that Tom Wilson didn’t fight.

Matt Niskanen dropped the mitts first followed up by Dimitri Orlov who dropped the mitts against a well know NHL pest Max Domi. Orlov brought out his best Khabib Nurmagomedov impression dropping Domi

Domi got back up and cheap shot Orlov who thought the fight was over and connected some punches on Orlov. I truly believe a fine should come from the league.

Nicklas Backstrom started the comeback scoring first followed up by an Alex Ovechkin powerplay goal in the third period that tied the game.

Later Lars Eller got sweet revenge against his former team that traded him to Washington. Eller was the goal scoring hero tonight and got the Capitals a win tonight!
