The Washington Capitals have officially agreed to terms with 2012 first round draft pick Filip Forsberg. Forsberg’s deal is a 3 year NHL entry-level deal worth $832,500 a season assuming he makes the NHL. His contract would be worth $70,000 in the AHL, but it’s safe to say that he won’t spent much, if any, time with the Hershey Bears. This deal will not start until the 2013-2014 season because Forsberg has one year remaining on his contract with Leksands IF in the Swedish Elite League. It will be interesting to see how his future plays out, as many NHL teams viewed Filip as a center, while all signs point to the Capitals viewing him as a forward. He didn’t take any face offs during the two days that I went to Development Camp.
