Washington Capitals release 2019-2020 schedule

The Washington Capitals now know their opponents and when they will be playing as the 2019-2020 NHL schedule has been released. Accoriding to NHL.com the Washington Capitals “have five home stands of at least three games on the schedule, the longest being a four-game stretch at Capital One Arena from Feb. 2 to Feb. 10. The Capitals have five stretches of at least three consecutive road games, including a season-long five-game road trip from Oct. 20 to Oct. 29. In addition, the Capitals will have 12 sets of back-to-back games.”

Seventeen of the Caps 41 home games that are at Capital One Arena fall on weekends. This includes six games on Friday, seven on Saturday and four on Sunday. This should help with the fan support in the arena.

  • Oct. 5 – Home opener at Capital One Arena versus the Carolina Hurricanes
  • Oct. 14 – Capitals host Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche on Columbus Day
  • Oct. 18 – Henrik Lundqvist and the New York Rangers make their first of two visits to Capital One Arena
  • Nov. 9 – The Capitals host the Vegas Golden Knights
  • Nov. 11 – Washington hosts the Arizona Coyotes on Veterans Day
  • Nov. 29 – The Capitals and the Tampa Bay Lightning face off the day after Thanksgiving
  • Dec. 11 – The Capitals host the Eastern Conference champion Boston Bruins
  • Dec. 31 – The Capitals face the New York Islanders in a New Year’s Eve matinee
  • Feb. 2 – Washington hosts Pittsburgh on Super Bowl Sunday
  • March 16 – The Capitals host Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers
  • March 24 – The Capitals host the defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues
  • April 2 – The Capitals conclude their 2019-20 home regular-season schedule against the Minnesota Wild
