Washington Capitals Lose to Pittsburgh Penguins in Overtime 7-6
The Washington Capitals have lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins 7-6 in overtime. The Capitals played a great game considering they had to play on back to back night unlike the Penguins.
The Capitals played a great game in the first period scoring three goals and clearly out played the Penguins. Goals in the first period came from Jakub Vrana, Brooks Orpik and Alex Ovechkin.
The Capitals in the second period looked slow and tired getting out shot 23 to 16, and giving up two goals. John Carlson although did score a goal in the second period.
The third period was an exciting period and went down neck and neck to the end. Evgeny Malkin scored on the power-play to make give the Penguins a 7-5 lead, but TJ Oshie scores two goals within 25 seconds to tie the game.
Unfortunately in overtime Evgeny Kuznetsov took a penalty that was questionable to give the Penguins to score on the power-play to win the game.
It was a typical Capitals vs Penguins game with all calls going towards the Penguins. The Capitals took six penalties that where all questionable. The Penguins got away with players standing in the goal crease which is not legal at! Good news is last year the Penguins has to play on back to back nights last year after they won the Stanley Cup and lost to the Chicago Blackhawks 10-1, so this game could’ve been worse.
Capitals play again Wednesday against the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
