Washington Capitals lose to Nashville Predators 4-3

The Washington Capitals lost last night to the Nashville Predators 4-3. The Capitals showed a great team effort last night, but still came up short.

Philipp Grubauer didn’t have the performance that he usually puts up in a tryout game against Branden Holtby stopping 25 out of 29 shots for a save percentage of 86.

Collin Smith had the first goal of the game in the first period for a 1-0 lead at the end of the first. Moments later in the second period Alex Ovechkin scores his 47 goal of the season to tie the game.

Later in the second period Evgeny Kuznetsov scored to give the Capitals a 2-1 lead scoring a sweet goal going around two Nashville defensemen.

Right before the second period ended Collin Smith scored his second goal of the game to tie the game up with less than five minutes left in the period.

Kuznetsov started the third period showing off his great hands and stick work scoring his second goal of the game to tie the game up 2-2. Later in the third the Capitals fell apart after when Romin Josi blasted a shot from the point while the Capitals where short handed to give the Predators a 3-2 lead.

After fighting hard while trailing Predators goalie Juuse Saros steeped his game up and looked great. He stopped 29-32 shots and out preformed Grubauer. Ryan Johansson of the Predators later scored the game winning goal with less than two minutes left.

The Capitals still remain the one seed in the Metropolitan Division and will know who they play after all games are played Saturday night.
