Washington Capitals Lose Again at Home 4-2

The Washington Capitals have lost game four on there Eastern Conference Final 4-2 and now have a tied 2-2 series with Tampa Bay. The Capitals played a great game and dominated the majority of the game, but the final scoreboard doesn’t say so.

The Capitals our hit, out shot, won the majority of the faceoffs and blocked more shots, but special teams for Tampa won the game tonight. Tampa Bay went 1-2 on the power-play while the Capitals went 0-4 tonight. Tampa’s penalty kills and the strong play of Andre Vasilevsky won them the game tonight stopping 36 shots tonight. Braden Holtby only saw 20 shots but didn’t see more than 10 shots in a single period. As a goalie those games are the hardest play standing cold in net, but the goals weren’t his fault. The first goal defensemen Michal Kempny made a bad pass in front of Holtby to Tyler Johnson for a 3-1 chance to for a Braden Point goal to tie the game moments after Dimitri Orlovs goal to tie the game 1-1.Later in the first period Lars Eller took another lazy awful penalty for a Steven Stamkos scoring his fourth of the series for a 2-1 Tampa lead. The Capitals dominated the second period outshooting Tampa 14-6, but could only score one goal when Evgeny Kuznetsov got a beautiful saucer pass from Alex Ovechkin for a tied game 2-2 going into the third period. The Capitals didn’t look as strong in the third, but played an above average period. The third was very defensive with the Capitals outshooting Tampa 9-6. Yet Lars Eller took another penalty. Even though the goal wasn’t scored while Tampa was on the power-play, but Eller has just gotten out of the penalty box and still have enough time to skate into the defensive zone. The Capitals pulled the goalie with two minutes left, but couldn’t hit the net and made to many passes.Hopefully they get it together for game 5 and get a lead in the series again.
