Washington Capitals get Big Win Against Detroit Redwings 1-0

The Washington Capitals win a big nationally televised game against the Detroit Redwings 1-0. The big story of the game was the game was the performance of Philipp Grubauer.

With Braden Holtby getting injured in today’s morning that skate that lead to a call up for Phoenix Copley, Grubauer went out and played like an all star tonight. Grubauer has been solid ever since Holtby has went down hill after the all-star break and stopped 39 shots for his his second shut out of the season.

The Capitals finally got there first and only goal of the night when Bret Connolly beat Howard while on a two on one with Jakub Vrana.

The Capitals still hold first place in the Metropolitan Division with only less than a month away from the playoffs. Overall they play a solid defensive game, and brought a lot of pressure to the Redwings goalie Jimmy Howard.

Capitals play again Saturday against the Montreal Canadians.
