USA and Wales play to a draw in World Cup opener

The United States Men’s National Team is back in the FIFA World Cup for the first time in eight years. On Monday afternoon in their World Cup opener in Qatar, they took on Wales. After leading 1-0, Wales scored the equalizer late in the second half and despite a stoppage time of up to nine minutes, the American’s couldn’t get the game winner.

Timothy Weah struck first in the 36th minute to give the USA fans hope. Gareth Bale would tie it on a penalty kick to ensure both teams came away with a point in the Group Stage. Both teams are a part of Group B.

USA will look to bounce back in their biggest match since the Revolutionary War on Black Friday with a 2 p.m. kickoff.
