UFC releases fan favorite John Lineker

UFC Bantamweight contender John Lineker has been released from his contract in a shocking move prior to International fight week.

John “Hands Of Stone” Lineker (31-9 MMA, 12-4 UFC) is a wildly entertaining fighter and fan favorite. Jogn withdrew from a fight against Rob Font after an apparent injury during the end of his fight camp. Lineker, 29, debuted in May 2012 and has fought in both the 125 and 135 pound divisions. Lineker suffered a split decision loss to Cory Sandhagen in his last fight. Rumors are that Lineker had asked for a release prior to the fight with Font due to inactivity and top ranked challengers and some speculate that he pulled from that fight in order to upset the UFC and help puch a release however Lineker nor his camp have commented on that.
