Trea Turner locks down second career cycle against Rockies at home in Washington

The Washington Nationals' shortstop Trea Turner shone tonight with hitting for his second career cycle against the Colorado Rockies.  Fans undoubtedly remember his first cycle on the night of April 25, 2017, in the chilly air at Coors Field. Now Turner has completed another cycle against the same team, but this time, in front of his home crowd.

In the first inning, Turner hit a solo home run on a line drive to center field. In the second, he singled on a sharp ground ball to first baseman Daniel Murphy and got Stephen Strasburg to second base. In the fifth inning, he tripled on a line drive all the way to right fielder Charlie Blackmon, and to complete the cycle, Turner doubled on a sharp line drive to Blackmon to score Gerardo Parra in the seventh.

Hitting for the cycle is no easy task. Few make it past their first or second, and Turner has undoubtedly added his name to a two or more cycle career. The Nationals had seen many attempted cycles through not only Turner, but also other players like Ryan Zimmerman and Adam Eaton throughout the years, so a completed one is always worth the celebration. Congratulations, Trea Turner!
