Towson Football set to Open Season Against City Rival Morgan State in Battle for Greater Baltimore

Summer is over, and college classes are in session. With that, the first weekend of College Football is hours from being underway.

For Towson University, the 50th football season will kick-off tomorrow in the “Battle for Greater Baltimore”, against rival Morgan State. Towson and Morgan State last played each other in the 2017 Season, which saw the Tigers taking the win over the Bears 10-0.

Head Coach Rob Ambrose returns for his 10th season, bringing great leadership to this Tiger Squad.

The Tiger offense looks to improve on their disappointing season last year with receiver Jabari Greenwood. The former Kentucky Wildcat will seek to take the next step from his impressive 2017 campaign. Towson has had an interesting quarterback competition this summer with Sophomore Ryan Stover, the starter from last season, and new transfer Tom Flacco, brother of NFL quarterback Joe Flacco. Flacco is a graduate transfer from Rutgers with two years of eligibility remaining. Coach Ambrose will go with the hot hand throughout the season.

One of the few bright spots on the season last year for Towson was their defense, which is looking to return to top form. The defensive unit returns almost all of their starters from last season.

If Towson gets good offensive production and their defense continues to play with intensity, the Tigers can be very formidable.

Kick-off is Saturday at 7 pm from Hughes Stadium on the campus of Morgan State.
