Towson and Maine Square Off in Ranked Homecoming Showdown

The #15 Tigers (6-2, 4-1 CAA) host the #23 Black Bears (5-3, 4-1 CAA) of Maine in a big CAA matchup in which both teams seasons will most likely be at stake. It is likely that whoever loses this game will not make the FCS Playoffs. The Tigers are coming off a heartbreaking defeat against their rival the Delaware Blue Hens, which saw Tom Flacco lead a last second drive that almost won them the game. Flacco hit his man in the end zone with a perfect pass down the seam with 3 seconds left on the clock. The receiver was wide open with no contest to the potential catch. Unfortunately, the receiver dropped the would be go ahead Touchdown which in all likely hood, would have handed Towson the win. Instead the Blue Hens took home the 40-36 victory.

Now, the Tigers return home to Johnny Unitas Stadium in what is their homecoming game needing a win to beat Maine to help make sure they get to the post season. The stage is set in another huge matchup at home for Towson.

My Prediction: In order for things to go in the Tigers favor, they need to come out and control the game early. The Tiger defense needs to come out hungry and not get bullied around like in the second half against Delaware. Look for the intensity to be swift. Towson will send the home crowd home happy with a 30-23 victory.
