Top five reasons why I hate the Indianapolis professional football team

I hate the Indianapolis professional football team.  I really hate them, seeing them start their season 0-13 is nothing but pleasure to my eyes.  Trying to stay unbiased is hard at times, I have to admit I have a lot of respect for Peyton Manning.  That did not come quickly, it took a very long time for me to even acknowledge Manning for his greatness.  I have  a list of teams that I enjoy seeing lose no matter what.  Indy is on that list, within the top five along with the Steelers, Yankees, Red Sox, and Penguins.  These are the top five reasons why I hate Indy.

1.  They are the reason why I did not have a football team to cheer for as a kid.  Let’s face it, the closest team that I would have cheered for was the Washington Redskins. They had a lot to do with Baltimore not having a team.  The NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue was “in bed” with Redskins ownership and did his best to keep a team away from Baltimore.

2.  The retaining of history, team name, and records.  This one really bothers me, you know I am only 23 years old but as a son of a family of BALTIMORE COLTS fans I knew all about the history.  The Baltimore Colts had a very strong history and a strong fan base.  When Robert Irsay moved the team he took everything from the records to the Super Bowls.  Irsay tries to make it look like Indianapolis won multiple Super Bowls when in fact the only Super Bowl the Indianapolis football team has one was with Peyton Manning, in 2006.  It just bugs me whenever I heard Peyton Manning breaking a Johnny Unitas record.

When The Cleveland Browns moved to Baltimore the Ravens became a pseudo expansion team.  Cleveland got to keep all their records and mascot just in case Cleveland got a new team down the road, which they did.  To the best of my knowledge Tagliabue had something to do with that.  Such a wonder how Tagliabue could never help the Baltimore fans.

3.  Leaving in the middle of the night.  You have all heard the stories about the Mayflower trucks leaving at the middle of the night and sneaking out of town.  Yeah, just watch this video it tells the whole story of the leaving of the night.

4. Robert Irsay was a lying drunk. How many times did Irsay curse at the Baltimore media and tell them he was not going to move the team? Irsay will go down as one of the most hated names in Baltimore sports history, heck Baltimore history and it is well deserving. He sunk the Baltimore Colts down and then moved them.  Jim Irsay the current owner is not much different than his father.  Irsay has had his troubles with drugs and alcohol as well.

5. The 2006 playoff game. The 2006 playoff game against Indy was supposed to be Baltimore’s moment of redemption, Baltimore’s time to settle an old score. The Baltimore Ravens were coming off their bye week and finishing the season 13-3, yet they could not muster anything against Indy. The Ravens lost 15-6 in one of the worst moments in Ravens history. The defense held Manning and the great Indy offense to nothing but field goals but the Ravens offense was tragic.
