Tom Wilson Gets 20 Game Suspension

The NHL is cracking down on safety hard this year by dishing out a 20 game suspension to Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson. Wilson was ejected last game for an illegal check to the head on St Louis Blues forward Oskar Sundqvist in the second period.

Wilson will lose $1.25 million dollars as a result of the suspension. Wilson is a repeat offender and George Parros who is head of the NHL Safety Department is making an example of Wilson to keep the game safer.

Sundqvist was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday and is unclear when he will return.

This is the fourth time Wilson has been suspended. Wilson was suspended for an illegal hit to the head in the playoffs when injuring Pittsburgh Penguin forward Zack Aston-Reese.
